Morning Weigh In
16 Feb
I haven’t done a weight check in a while, so I decided to give it a go just now. The #……232 pounds. This represents a 3 pound loss from a week ago, and 17 pounds lost since I started my transition to the paleo diet. I am very pleased with this #, because I had been at 235 for at least 2 weeks. However, those 2 weeks admittedly consisted of some serious cheating. The good thing about that cheating is that it made me stay at the same weight instead of putting on weight.
Anyways, the last week or so I have been trying extra hard to stay on the paleo path. The fact I was snowed in for most of the week certainly helped, as I was mostly limited to the paleo-friendly food I had in my apartment. Remember, the key is access. What foods do you have access to? If you don’t have access to all the crap we want to get rid off, you won’t eat it!
As far as weighing myself, I don’t have a set time of when I do it. I think it is very important to NOT weigh yourself everyday. Remember, we are in this for the long haul. No point in getting into a daily obsession about whether you lost or gained a pound. Instead, weigh yourself once a week at most. In fact, I would argue the longer you go between weight checks the better. It will give you better feedback on the overall effectiveness of what you have been doing.
Finally, remember to be consistent in the method in which you weigh yourself. Use the following checklist to get a routine down:
- Aim to always weigh yourself at the same time of day (I shoot for the morning, right after I wake up, before I’ve had anything to eat or drink)
- Always wear the same thing (I do it butt-naked….please….no pictures)
- Always put your scale in the same position (I keep my scale in a closet when I’m not using it)
Have a great day everyone!
